Mari-Ruth Oda’s sculpture Waking Into a Dream is a serene reflection on transition and transformation. Crafted in Jesmonite White Marble, the piece is created for the entrance of a residential building in Taipei, embodying a sense of quiet movement and awakening. Until the building’s completion, the sculpture was temporarily displayed at the commissioner’s head office, offering a glimpse into the harmony it will bring to its final home.

    Artist Statement -

    Title of work: Waking Into a Dream

    “This sculpture is inspired by forms in nature and by a Mobius Strip, an infinite loop in which the inside becomes the outside and outside becomes the inside, symbolising the idea of “As within so without”. (Hermes Trismegistus’ Emerald Tablet) Our inner life is reflected into our outer life, alluding to the possibility that the separation between them that we perceive is an illusion. Perhaps Life is but a dream within the infinite consciousness.”
